DETROIT
In the Detroit skyline, every building has a story, and most of us who have spent time around there also have our own memories and nostalgia associated with the iconic places in and around Downtown Detroit. The People Mover, the sporting events, the Coney Island hot dogs, the now defunct Boblo Boat, the Detroit River Princess, the Ren Cen, the fountain, Greektown, the festivals, the list goes on… Many of these memories came back as I was drawing these places, and I learned some of the fascinating, sometimes tragic, sometimes humorous, always interesting history of some of Detroit’s most famous places. The original was 24x26in or 60x90cm, as I wanted viewers to be able to experience these emotions by creating something sizable enough to impact them more than just a small print or poster on the wall.

Acrylic Panel: (USA ONLY) My most beautiful option. The image is printed on an acrylic panel which is mounted on the wall, raised slightly. This is a very elegant product.

Shipping: Drawings are shipped in a tube, and will flatten out once framed. They can be shipped flat for an extra fee.
Drawings are shipped through the Post Office, but can be sent through a courier such as UPS or DHL for an extra fee.
Buyer must pay any customs fee. As of yet, none of my clients have had to pay, but things change quickly these days.
Turn around time for commissions: 1-4 weeks to create originals. European shipping time varies. USA: 2-5 days to get from Spain to Customs in NY or NJ, after that up to 3 weeks to clear. I will send you the tracking info so we can keep checking on it.
Techy Stuff:
Commissions in colored pencil are created with A.W. Faber Castell Polychromos. These professional quality colored pencils are lightfast, or resistant to fading, easy to blend and layer, and erasable. They are oil based rather than wax-based like traditional colored pencils. Sometimes wax based colored pencils, when layered thickly, can appear foggy as the was rises to the surface. This “wax bloom” is no big deal; the drawing can be polished clean, but it’s a hassle if the drawing is framed. Sometimes I layer on the colors quite thickly, so I decided to use polychromos, even though there are certainly some wax based pencils that are also professional quality.
